Kozue Maye - Executive Chef (Certified Food Protection Manager)
Kozue Maye is a chef, gardener, and artisan passionate about creating vibrant, nourishing meals that celebrate the best of local, seasonal ingredients. Born and raised on a small island in Japan, she grew up helping her grandparents with their catering business, gaining hands-on experience in farming and cooking from an early age. Her grandmother’s wisdom—“Season food like you mean it!”—continues to inspire her culinary philosophy.
Kozue’s career spans traditional Japanese restaurants, American diners, Italian steakhouses, and Soul Food kitchens, giving her a uniquely diverse culinary perspective. Her love for farm-to-table cuisine flourished with her husband, Mike, as they hosted Farm-to-Fork events on their Nevada farm, drawing guests eager for fresh, unforgettable flavors. In addition to her culinary talents, Kozue bakes fresh bread and desserts for order, ensuring every meal ends on a sweet note. She is also a certified florist, offering custom centerpieces and bouquets to elevate special occasions with her artistic touch. Since relocating to West Virginia in 2022, Kozue has combined her expertise in cooking, gardening, and floral design to lead Self Mayed Catering Company. Whether crafting a custom menu or adding finishing touches with fresh blooms, her mission is to create exceptional dining experiences that bring people together to celebrate food, beauty, and connection. |
