About Us
Kozue Maye - Executive Chef (Certified Food Protection Manager)
Kozue Maye is a chef and gardener specializing in organic gardening and farm-to-table cuisine. Her passion lies in creating vibrant, delicious, and nourishing meals crafted with high-quality local and seasonal ingredients.
Born and raised on farmland on a small island in Japan, Kozue’s culinary journey began at age four, helping her grandparents with their catering business. Surrounded by a family of restaurant owners and farmers, she gained early hands-on experience harvesting fresh vegetables and fruits and preparing meals for clients and the community. Kozue’s culinary roots are deeply influenced by her grandmother, who taught her traditional Japanese cooking and imparted timeless wisdom like, “Season food like you mean it!” As an adult, Kozue honed her craft across various food industry roles, working in traditional Japanese restaurants, American eateries, an Italian steakhouse, and even bartending at a resort hotel. She also learned the art of Soul Food from her church community, cooking alongside beloved "Big Mama" during special events, which further expanded her diverse culinary repertoire. Kozue's passion for gardening and cooking blossomed when she met her husband, Mike. Together, they started a small farm outside Las Vegas, NV, where they hosted Farm-to-Fork events, showcasing dishes made with their freshly harvested produce. These gatherings became a beloved community tradition, drawing guests from miles away who came back time and time again for the unforgettable flavors. In 2022, Kozue and Mike relocated to West Virginia, drawn by its ideal climate for gardening. They’ve since rebuilt their farm and garden, where Kozue combines her culinary expertise and farming skills to offer exceptional catering services to her new community. Her mission is to create unforgettable dining experiences that celebrate the beauty of local, seasonal ingredients and the joy of sharing meals together. |
